Info |
IC4628
is located in the curve of the tail of the constellation Scorpius. This
image only shows part there of this massive emission nebula. Emission
nebulas are created when hot young stars radiate a nebulous area with
ultraviolet light that strips electrons from atoms. These electrons then
reattach to the atoms, producing the bright nebulosity. IC4628 is
also known as Gum 56 after Colin Gum, an Australian astronomer and
is commonly called The Prawn Nebula. |

Notes/ Conditions |
Conditions-Since we have had rain in the last few days,
the low pressure has cleaned the sky. While not perfect, the seeing and
transparency was fair to average. Ha blended 50% to red channel. |
