IC 2948 is a relative featureless emission nebula located between the Southern Cross and the constellation Carina  on the southern border of Centaurus. It is a large emission nebula with scatterings of bright stars,in particular, Collinder 249. In the brighter portion of this nebula (bottom LH corner that we see a small group of dark clouds of the kind known as 'Bok globules'. They are named for the Dutch-American astronomer who first drew attention to them as the possible sites of star formation.It is around 6000 L.ys away.

Mount Celestron CI700 controlled by a Mel Bartels Goto Control System with Vexta PK264m-01b motors with a pulley and belt system
Camera (CCD) Starlight Xpress HX916 monochrome with Hm, made filter slider
Exposures HA:119' ( 7 min sub exposures)  All images were unbinned, no dark frames removed. Ha sigma combined. Image has been reduced to 85% for better viewing.
Guiding

Orion 80ED refractor F7.5 with a Starlight Xpress MX516 usb. Mounted via a side by side accessory plate.

Notes/ Conditions

 Conditions settled down at around 11pm after a hot day. A little unsteady and seeing a little soft. Moon at 82% luminosity.
